Solid Space and Sound at the Ark: Cruinniu na nOg 2023

This was the first time developing Solid, Space and Sound for children, and I was delighted to have the opportunity and to be supported to work with children from Child Vision and the Ark.

Enjoy a creative and multi-sensory discovery tour of The Ark building devised and led by artist Emilie Conway especially for children with visual impairment.

You can look forward to exploring our building through a range of senses. We will listen to the sounds of The Ark. What do our voices sound like in the different rooms here, and what sounds can we make with the different surfaces?

We’ll also explore the solid aspects of the spaces through tactile activities and touch. How do the spaces feel? Which spaces are big, which are little? How do spaces change how we move, how we hear, how we feel in that space?

Mixing music, sound, movement, touch, narration and art-making, children with visual impairment are warmly invited with their families to gently explore this unique building which is for all children to enjoy.

Push+

I've also been selected to join a panel of European artists to participate in PUSH+ Different Bodies in Norway in September.  PUSH+ is especially interesting to me as its aim is to stimulate European dialogue and initiate new artistic ideas and performances around three important topics in performance for young audiences - Home, Failure and Different Bodies. I'm very grateful to the Ark for proposing my participation in this.

Cruinniú na nÓg 2020

My quartet and I collaborated with St. Colmcille’s SNS on a virtual recording, released , June 13, as part of Cruinniú na nÓg. I’m so grateful to the staff at the school for their patience working with me as due to Covid, we had to ‘pivot” and convert our original in person project to a virtual one. The children recorded all their parts at home and sent in their artwork to make this video! More information here
