Une Soirée Folle In Walked Piet Album Launch
Inspired by the life and work of Piet Mondrian with me, Johnny Taylor - piano @scottkohlmann - guitar

June 19, 7pm
In the upstairs "Speakeasy Drawing Room" of the @theunitedartsclub

Flappers, Dandies and Jazz Cats, grab your pearls and bowler hats & celebrate with us, for Une Soirée Folle, launching In Walked Piet in Roaring 2020's style!

Brand new tracks from the album alongside "hits" of the 1920s—including The Charleston, Ain’t Misbehavin', Blue Skies, Stardust, and more. Music that sparked Mondrian's love of jazz.

"All ugliness is transcended by jazz and by light" - Piet Mondrian.

This album grew out of a commission from the @nationalgalleryofireland of Ireland in 2020 to coincide with their landmark Mondrian exhibition. Because of pandemic restrictions, our performances were postponed until eventually, the exhibition had closed.

I used those isolated months/years! to immerse myself in Mondrian’s life & work - which I presented in 2 podcasts for the National Gallery (still available to stream! ) & a lecture series for New York City's global cultural center, @92ndstreety

Oh & I accidentally founded @dada_campaign ( also a ground-breaking modern art movement in Mondrian's time!) for disabled artists rights in the Arts, singing the message in @oireachtas_news

Progress was also delayed by several episodes of my hearing loss - from which Mondrian suffered too! Really slows you down when you're visually impaired too!

It's been a trip!!!

So at last here we are!! We got there!! And I am so looking forward to sharing this music with you! The album Johnny Taylor and @bardono2. Recorded at @camdenrecordingstudios, Mixed and Mastered by @buckleysax and produced by @gipsyfantasyjazz, Michael Buckley an and me!

Poster designed by me, photo of me by @eoinfbyrne, painting in background by me, acrylic on canvas
