2 Snows: 2 Gigs in March 2018

Good evening folks !

What can one possibly say of a second snow in March?! this is what poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox said :

Snow in March

Let the old snow be covered with the new:

The trampled snow, so soiled, and stained, and sodden.

Let it be hidden wholly from our view

By pure white flakes, all trackless and untrodden.

When Winter dies, low at the sweet Spring's feet

Let him be mantled in a clean, white sheet.

Let the old life be covered by the new:

The old past life so full of sad mistakes,

Let it be wholly hidden from the view

By deeds as white and silent as snow-flakes.

Ere this earth life melts in the eternal Spring

Let the white mantle of repentance fling

Soft drapery about it, fold on fold,

Even as the new snow covers up the old.

not sure even how I feel about that poem ... but there's a gentleness in it .... and I guess if we get two snows in March, then the past is truly past and ....we can surely look forward to the release of a spectacular spring and splendid summer!

And in the meantime, and, anyway, .. there's music!

Eventbrite: Sunday, March 25 Emilie Conway Brazilian Jazz Quintet @ Ranelagh Arts Centre, 26 Ranelagh

Join me and some of Ireland's finest musicians in jazz and Brazilian music to explore the evocative melodies and grooves of the music from Brazil.. As you may remember, some years back I created Emilie Sings Elis, a tribute to Brazil's brilliant and tragic genius, singer, Elis Regina .. Maybe it's the double winter that has driven me to the music of sunny Brazil - it's the first outing for this new group on Sunday and I'm very excited about working with them as we re-discover and re-imagine this music .. Johnny Taylor, piano, Paddy Groenland, guitar, Dave Mooney, bass and Andre Antunes, drums. And BYOB!
